Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D RN) Location: Not specified. This role involves providing specialized care for expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. The nurse will float between units based on clinical needs, with a focus on ensuring patient safety and comfort in a Level 1 maternity and newborn care setting.

Job Details

  • Certifications, Education, and Experience Requirements: AWHONN Advanced*, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP, STABLE; at least 2 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing; valid license in state (compact license accepted); minimum of 1 year of recent obstetric experience.
  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and nursery care for neonates, infants, and adults; manage level I nursery and triage for patients 36 weeks gestation and above; facilitate cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and use of electronic fetal monitoring; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
  • Additional Requirements: Candidates must have experience with obstetrical procedures such as cesarean section, sterile vaginal exams, triage, and fetal heart rate monitoring. Candidates should be flexible to float between units as needed. Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility.
  • Schedule Details: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week. Must work 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day). All specific scheduling requests must be made during submission.
  • Submittal Requirements: Candidates must include a response to whether they have worked at a Providence facility previously, with details. Two references covering 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the last 3 years are required.
