Description

Job Summary:
The PCU (Progressive Care Unit) registered nurse position is located at an organization providing intermediate cardiac step-down care. This 10-week contract offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high patient turnover environment, with a focus on post-operative cardiac patients, arrhythmias, CHF, and other critical care scenarios. The role requires clinical expertise, resilience, and the ability to manage change effectively within a dynamic inpatient setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour days, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC, ability to pass EKG test within the first week of hire, at least one year of recent EPIC charting experience, and a minimum of 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac Step-down Unit (SDU), Intermediate Cardiac, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU)), plus 2 years of IMC/Progressive Care/Telemetry experience. Candidates must also have experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree.
  • Float: Float to all inpatient units as needed.
  • Additional Information: The unit features 44 beds for intermediate cardiac step-down care, with responsibilities including care for post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, Vascular, Arrhythmia, CHF, post procedure cath, pacer, defibrillator, ablations, acute chest pain/myocardial infarction, and med/surg overflow such as detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and Fem Pop Bypass. Typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4. The role involves managing a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover. Scrub colors are flexible. During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations must wear masks at all times, in accordance with organizational policies.
