Job Summary
IMCU Registered Nurse (RN) Wausau, WI The healthcare provider seeks an experienced IMCU RN to join a 36-bed Intermediate Care Unit. This position involves caring for patients with varying acuity levels, including those on ventilators, trachs, and managing conditions such as sepsis, trauma, and stroke. The role requires adaptability to a rotating shift schedule with every other weekend and holiday.
Job Details
- Location: Wausau, WI
- Position Description: IMCU RN for a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit with heavy telemetry, serving stable patients with ventilator/ trach needs, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, TBI, ortho trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke.
- Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS, and ACLS (AHA or ARC); 2+ years experience in stepdown/intermediate care with ventilator and trach management required; ICU experience and Trauma Level II preferred; minimum of 2 years of experience as a firm requirement; minimum of 1 prior travel experience required; Associate Degree or Certificate; located in Wisconsin; experience in ICU, Stepdown, or PCU.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week minimum.
- Additional Information:
- Guaranteed hours per week, with schedule variability based on 12-hour day/night shifts.
- Will float to higher acuity units as needed within all inpatient units and is typically asked to work only 4 or 8 hours during low census periods, not considered on call.
- Every other holiday and weekend work required.
- Unit handles complex patient care scenarios including trauma, stroke, and ventilator management.
- Shift hours details: 12-hour day/night variables starting from October 12, 2026, through November 29, 2026.
- Scrub colors of choice.
- GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation; traveler is guaranteed set hours per week during the contract.
- During flu season, vaccine decliners must wear masks at all times in accordance with policy.
