Description
Job Summary:
This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) at a hospital setting. The role involves caring for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, transplantation, and other complex procedures in a dedicated cardiovascular surgical intensive care unit. The assignment is located in an 18-bed unit with a nurse/patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2, providing a demanding yet rewarding environment for experienced cardiovascular ICU nurses.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shift, with 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS); current experience with recovery of post-operative cardiac surgery patients in an ICU setting, including ventilator management, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Swan-Ganz catheter placement, epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive medication titration, level 1 Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO); training in a dedicated open-heart unit with direct patient care experience in this environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Critical Care Certification; trauma course; EPIC electronic medical records system familiarity.
- Additional Information: Orientation dates are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Previous employment within any Johns Hopkins facility must be noted on the candidates work history, including staff, PRN, or travel positions; candidates must be away for at least one full year if previously employed in any capacity within the Johns Hopkins health system.
