Description
Job Summary:
Critical Care Nurse specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at an urban healthcare organization. The position involves providing high-level neurological intensive care to adult patients with various neurocritical conditions, including strokes, hemorrhages, seizures, and post-surgical neurotrauma. The role requires adherence to evidence-based practices in a unit that fosters teamwork and clinical excellence.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with orientation on a designated shift. Shift times are from 0700 to 1900 or from 1900 to 0700. The assignment is scheduled for a minimum of 12 weeks starting on 10/19/2026 and ending on 01/16/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Valid licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. A minimum of 4 years of ICU experience, including skills in ventilator management, tracheostomy care, arterial lines, vasopressor and sedation management, and central line blood draws. EPIC electronic medical record experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with continuous venovenous hemofiltration/continuous renal replacement therapy (CVVH/CRRT) and external ventricular drain (EVD) management.
- Support within the Department: Critical care Nurse Practitioners (NPs) on day shifts, 24/7 intensivist coverage, hospitalist team, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, and bedside telemetry monitoring.
- Additional Information: The unit emphasizes strong teamwork and evidence-based nursing practices. Orientation includes a one-shift facility and unit-specific familiarization. No on-call requirements, with every other weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled.
