Job Summary
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) Nurse position in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing comprehensive inpatient care to adults and geriatrics on a 41-bed hematology, oncology, stem cell transplant, and palliative care unit within a Magnet-designated hospital. The nurse will administer chemotherapy, assist with stem cell transplant procedures, and perform head-to-toe assessments, using advanced evidence-based therapies and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Job Details

• Certifications and Education Requirements: RN license required; BLS certification (American Heart Association only); Chemo certification from the Oncology Nursing Society or ONCC required; minimum of 3 years recent experience in hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant, level 1 trauma, or similar hospital setting required.
• Schedule: Day/Evening shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Experience: 3 years of recent experience in hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant.
• Additional Responsibilities: Administer chemotherapy, assist with stem cell transplant procedures, bone marrow biopsies, blood product administration, central line and port access, and performing comprehensive patient assessments.
• Certifications and Testing: Must pass telemetry test prior to start with two attempts allowed; adult and pediatric cardiac interpretation exams required, with specified passing criteria.
• Special Equipment and Procedures: Accessing ports, managing immunotherapy, administering blood and blood products, cytokine therapy, managing complications such as Graft-Versus-Host Disease, and operating infusion pumps.
• Patient Care: Care for acutely ill patients with complex disease processes including leukemia, lymphoma, and solid tumors, often with complications such as Graft-Versus-Host Disease.
• Additional Unit Support: Interdisciplinary collaboration with IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, social services, pharmacy, and others.
• Travel and Location Details: This assignment is located at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, requiring a permit for onsite parking through UW Transportation. Travel is subject to float as needed, with local candidates required to reside beyond 50 miles from the facility.
