Job Summary:
Stepdown Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a hospital setting. This assignment involves night shifts with a focus on caring for stepdown and progressive care unit patients. The role requires clinical expertise in managing complex patient conditions, including hemodynamic monitoring, drips, and post-surgical care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), at least 2 years of RN experience including one solid year in stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU), recent EPIC charting experience (will require checkoff class).
• Preferred Qualifications: PIV insertion, stable home ventilator management, chest tube/indwelling drain management, continuous BiLevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), blood product administration, drain management, neutropenic precautions, and experience with blood product administration.
• Float: Float to other units within skill set; potential float to additional campuses, with a 2-hour notice for cross-campus float.
• Patient Population: Patients in stepdown/PCU with conditions such as sepsis, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), cirrhosis, dementia, and post-surgical urology, abdominal, and orthopedic patients.
• Unit Details: 10-bed stepdown unit, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during days and 1:5-6 during nights. Telemetry beds with a 1:5-6 ratio at night.
• Additional Information: This position may involve precepting students or new hires and requires a resilient, hardworking, and adaptable candidate with strong assessment and critical thinking skills. Interviews are conducted Monday through Friday via MSP interview process.
