Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position located in a busy Level III Trauma Center in Puyallup, WA. This role involves providing high-acuity care to a diverse patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. The ER nurse will deliver quality emergency care during night shifts, collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to manage trauma, medical, and mental health cases.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts from 1500 to 1900, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Shifts are typically scheduled weekly with a three-week schedule provided approximately 10 days prior to the start date.
• Required Qualifications: Valid certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB. Current or recent experience with EPIC electronic health record system. At least 0 years of ER experience, with a minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred.
• Skills Required: General ED experience including cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, and medication administration. Procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medication familiarity are valued.
• Support on the Unit: Resources include ED techs for glucose checks and iStat testing, social work, pharmacy, and security available 24/7. Support staff such as house supervisors and ED educators are assigned for safety and training.
• Charting System/Equipment: Recent EPIC experience required. Equipment includes Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication dispensers, and telemetry monitoring at the nursing station.
• Orientation: Day 1 involves badge issuance, EPIC training if needed, and meeting with the educator, with hours spent in mental health and front areas. Day 2 includes a 12-hour shift with a preceptor on the assigned shift.
• Float: None.
• Additional Information: The facility operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that is traveler friendly. Parking is free, and cultural expectations include professional scrub attire, modest piercings, and non-offensive tattoos. Weekend shifts and major holiday coverage will vary based on unit needs.
