Job Summary:
Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse - Days - Deaconess Midtown. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a 41-bed unit with a focus on post-surgical patients, including whipples, vascular, pre/post heart caths, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, and open bellies. The role requires strong assessment and critical thinking skills, adaptability, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week, accepting up to 48 hours upon request.
• Required Qualifications: Valid current active compact nursing license, AHA BLS certification, NIHSS certification, and a minimum of two years of recent Med/Surg experience, including trauma level II experience and at least one travel assignment. Recent EPIC charting experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PIV insertion, chest tube management, wound care, blood product administration, tele interpretation, and handling pre/post heart cath procedures. Resilience, strong assessment skills, and the ability to manage change well are essential.
• Float: Float to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and possibly to Henderson (KY) campus, with a two-hour notice for cross-campus float. Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible, but cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely.
• On Call/Call Back: Not applicable.
• Weekend/Holiday Schedule: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday.

• End Date: 01/31/2027
• Additional Information: Candidates should be prepared for precepting students and new hires as needed. The unit promotes a positive culture with team activities and celebrations. Scrubs are navy blue with no competing health system or agency logos.
