Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) Nights Deaconess Henderson. This position involves providing patient care on a 45-bed general medical-surgical unit, with a focus on assessment, critical thinking, and critical care skills. The role requires resilience, adaptability, and strong clinical judgment to support diverse patient populations including post-surgical, respiratory, and sepsis cases.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 11/02/2026 through 01/31/2027.
• Required Qualifications: Must have a current active compact license; AHA BLS; NIHSS. Minimum of two years of strong Medical-Surgical nursing experience; recent EPIC electronic charting experience (will be required to complete a checkoff class).
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior travel assignment experience and familiarity with a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Float: Float to affiliated campuses with a 2-hour notice; first to float within skillset. Cross-campus, mid-shift float is possible.
• On Call/Call Back: Not required.
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every third weekend; every other holiday.
• Patient Population: General Medical-Surgical patients, including post-operative, respiratory, and GI cases, with procedures such as gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, and ICU-related conditions.
• Skills and Responsibilities: PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEGs/NGs, ostomy care, remote tele-monitoring, blood product administration, NIHSS/dysphagia screen, and comprehensive assessment skills.
• Additional Information: Must be a social candidate, hard worker, resilient, and able to manage change well. The unit has an experienced staff with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:5-7 during night shifts. Navy blue scrubs required. The role may include precepting students and new hires.
