Job Summary:
Medical Surgical (MS) Registered Nurse (RN) Nights Deaconess Midtown. This role involves providing high-quality surgical patient care in a 41-bed unit with a focus on post-surgical management, including whipples, vascular, pre/post heart caths, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, and open abdominal surgeries. The nurse will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and managing a diverse patient population while adhering to unit protocols and achieving positive patient outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, minimum 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Neurological Institute Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and at least two years of strong Medical Surgical experience including recent experience with electronic charting (EPIC).
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma level II units, prior travel assignments, and proficiency in procedures such as PIV insertion, chest tube management, wound care, blood product administration, and telemetry interpretation.
• Float: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY); cross-campus float requires a 2-hour notice.
• On Call/Callback: Not required.
• Weekend/Holiday: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday.
• Additional Information: The unit emphasizes teamwork, with experienced charge nurses, a supportive culture, and regular celebrations. Scrub color is navy blue with no competing health system or agency logos. The position may involve precepting students or new hires.
