Description

Job Summary:
The operating room nurse specializing in open heart procedures in a healthcare facility is responsible for providing advanced perioperative care in a high-volume surgical environment. This role involves assisting with complex cardiac, vascular, and neurological surgeries, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and supporting patient recovery. The position requires flexibility to work day shifts and handle variable scheduling demands.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour day shifts from 07:00 AM to 07:30 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensure or certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST) within 1 year of hire or transfer; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross; high school diploma or GED; graduate of a surgical technologist program; minimum of 2 years surgical technologist experience, including CVOR surgical tech experience; previous travel experience; experience in an academic or teaching facility; no gaps in clinical employment lasting more than 30 days without explanation; peripheral vascular experience preferred; ability to respond within 45 minutes when called; at least one reference dated within the past 12 months.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Recent heart surgery experience required; vascular or neurological experience considered a plus; strong cardiac background preferred; flexibility for variable start times and schedule; knowledge of electronic health records (EPIC preferred).
  • Additional Information:
    • Travel is required, with a response time of 45 minutes when called.
    • Call as needed, including weekends and holidays.
    • Manager interviews are part of the selection process.
    • HCF issued scrubs provided.
    • Approval may take up to 14 business days.
    • No RTO first two weeks of assignment; maximum of 8 days RTO for the 13-week contract.
    • Medical exemption requests are allowed for seasonal influenza vaccination; exemption form must be included in the submission package.
