Job Summary:
registered nurse, step down unit, location unspecified. This role involves providing care on a 29-bed step-down and medical-surgical unit that is currently under construction, with all beds expected to be fully equipped by the first quarter of 2026. The position requires managing a diverse patient population with medical diagnoses, utilizing EPIC electronic medical record system, and working with a team of charge RNs, clinical associates, and telemetry staff during night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The shifts include weekends and approximately half of all hospital-recognized holidays.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure to practice as a registered nurse; minimum of 1 year(s) of nursing experience; certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; experience with EPIC electronic medical record system; ability to handle 6 med-surg patients or 3 step-down patients; required experience with titrating drips such as heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbitol, ketamine, PCA medications, and TPN.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience on step-down or med-surg units; familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitoring systems; ability to interpret telemetry strips; experience in an acute care setting.
• Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: This role involves working in a flexible unit that serves both floor and step-down patients, with patient ratios of 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for medical-surgical floors. Confidence with ventilator and BiPAP equipment is necessary, and RNs will be supported by a remote telemetry surveillance center. The unit emphasizes teamwork and adaptability, with a dress code of any combination of royal blue and white.
