Description

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) nurse position located in a high-volume, trauma-capable department. This role involves providing acute patient care during night shifts, managing a variety of urgent and emergent conditions, and supporting department operations in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM; every other week, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as an ER registered nurse, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), minimum of 2 years of experience in a larger trauma setting
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing trauma patients, familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system, proficiency in managing respiratory equipment such as vents, Cpap, BiPap, and performing ABGs
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit maintains 56 beds with an additional 6 beds in a fast track and a separate 5-bed triage area
    • ER includes 18 inpatient holding beds and 6 private treatment rooms in a secured, locked hall with seclusion rooms
    • Department handles approximately 170-200 patients daily with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3 to 1:4 during low acuity shifts
    • ER staff includes physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, house supervisors, and ED techs/assistants, with support from inpatient nurses for 1:1 sitters
    • EMR system in use is Epic; radiology services adjacent to the ED support seamless patient transport
    • Shift requires working holidays in November and December; no call or standby shifts are required.
    • Orientation includes 1 day of compliance and training, followed by 2 days of department-specific orientation.
    • RTO (Return to Office) considerations are limited to the first full week of assignment.
    • Facilities can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
