Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in the Night shift. This position involves providing leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality, compassionate patient care. The role utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver, delegate, supervise, and document patient care and teaching for patients and their families. Effective communication of pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team is essential. The nurse will participate in identifying solutions for variances from patient goals and ensure their implementation.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with a 13-week contract. Please note that block scheduling is not available; shifts are scheduled consecutively when possible, but cannot be guaranteed on the same days every week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years Medical Surgical (MS) nursing experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current active licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Medical Surgical experience at a Level 2 trauma facility
  • May be asked to float to lockdown units (general medical-surgical patients) candidates should be aware of this possibility
• Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans within the unit/department
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and hospital personnel
