Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position in a busy Level 1 Trauma Hospital. This role involves providing comprehensive care to laboring patients, antepartum patients, and those in triage, postpartum, and operating room settings. The candidate will work collaboratively within a high-volume, team-oriented environment to deliver exceptional maternal and neonatal care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS, ACLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certification; 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) RN experience, 1 year of OB Surgical Technician experience; strong clinical assessment skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital, IV insertion and care, central line management, interdisciplinary care coordination

• Float: Float rotation may be required to all adult med-surg and telemetry units within the hospital
• Additional Information:
  • Support staff includes two OB Surgical Technicians per shift and CNAs assisting with patient care tasks such as vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulating, and patient turning.
  • Unit staffing includes a unit secretary from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, with a house-wide call secretary from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.
  • Technology and equipment used include EPIC electronic medical records, Alaris IV pumps, Philip monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Test Strips, cardiac telemetry systems, portable vital sign monitors, PCA pain management systems, bladder scanners, glucometers, suction machines, and rapid discharge protocols.
  • The hospital provides 24/7 coverage with hospitalists, intensivists, OB physicians, RT, and bedside fetal monitoring technology.
  • Orientation includes one day of educational modules and two days of departmental training.
  • Scrub color: RN - Navy blue. Parking is free on campus.
  • Unit culture is described as busy but team-oriented.
