Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a facility situated at a busy Level 1 Trauma Designation Teaching Hospital. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for laboring, antepartum, postpartum, and triage patients. The facility offers a collaborative environment supporting high-quality patient care within a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shifts, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a schedule cycle of every 6 weeks. Minimum 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Active RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and Fetal Monitoring certifications.
  • At least 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) RN experience and 1 year of OB Surgical Technician experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital, IV insertion and care, central line management, and care coordination with interdisciplinary teams.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience scrubing surgeries, including cesarean sections, setting up tables for vaginal deliveries, and stocking unit.
  • Ability to assist with VS, glucose checks, patient baths, feeding, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, transporting patients, and blood draws from the blood bank.
• Additional Information:
  • Support staff includes two OB Surgical Technicians per shift and a unit secretary working from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with a house-wide call secretary available from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Technology and equipment used include EMR: EPIC, IV pumps: Alaris, monitors: Philips, vital sign monitors, glucose strips, telemetry monitoring, portable vital signs monitors, PCA pain management, bladder scanners, IV pumps, portable oxygen systems, Glucommander, suction machines, and admission/discharge protocols supporting rapid turnover.
  • Support services available 24/7 include RT (Respiratory Therapy), hospitalists, intensivists, and OB physicians.
  • Orientation includes one day on educational modules and two days in the department.
  • Float: Nurses may float to all adult medical-surgical and telemetry units in house.
  • Parking is available free of charge around the campus.
