Description
Job Summary:
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Specialty Nurse based in the area. This position involves working on a short stay unit with a focus on observation patients, requiring skilled assessment and patient care management during 12-hour night shifts. The role offers a 13-week assignment starting on 10/12/2026, with guaranteed hours and opportunities to float between inpatient units as needed.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours, minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: WI Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, willingness to take an EKG exam during compliance, associate degree or certificate required, minimum of 1 travel assignment experience
- Preferred Qualifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) highly preferred, background in observation, medical-surgical (MS), or telemetry (Tele) units, ability to read and interpret strips, experience with EPIC charting system, strong resilience, adaptability, and team collaboration skills
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) are required. NIHSS highly preferred. Must pass an EKG exam during compliance.
- On Call/Call Back Requirements: Eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours; hours can be structured in 4 or 8-hour increments during low census periods. This is not considered to be on call.
- Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and every other holiday.
- Additional Information: The unit is an 8-bed observation unit focusing on conditions such as anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre- and post-op Urology and GI patients, with a patient ratio of 1:4. Average patient stay is up to 48 hours, with a high volume of admissions and discharges. Ability to interpret EKG strips and manage drips (Cardiac Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin) required. During flu season, vaccination is mandatory; decliners must wear masks at all times.
