Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Surgical Technologist position is located at a healthcare facility providing specialized cardiac and vascular procedures. The role involves supporting open heart surgeries, assisting in the operating room, and functioning in both the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) and the main Operating Room (OR) as needed. The assignment is scheduled for 12-hour days, totaling at least 36 hours per week, with ongoing call responsibilities.

Job Details

• Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Days, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications:
  • Certification: NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST (within 1 year of hire/transfer)
  • Certification: BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, Graduate of surgical technologist program
  • Experience: At least 2 years of surgical technologist experience, CVOR surgical technologist experience, previous travel experience, experience in academic or teaching facility, no gaps in clinical employment longer than 30 days without explanation
  • Skills: Recent heart experience required; vascular/neuro experience a plus; strong cardiac experience highly preferred; flexibility required; ability to work in CVOR and float to main OR as needed; ability to respond within 45 minutes for call, with weekend call coverage
  • Additional: Documentation of facility type, EMR (EPIC required), bed count, and at least 1 reference within past 12 months

• Float: Float rotation may be required as indicated
• Other Details:
  • Must have experience and willingness to work in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) as primary assignment and call as well as float to the main OR as needed
  • Manager interviews required
  • Facility issued scrubs provided
  • Florida ACHA approval may take up to 14 business days
  • RTO policy: No RTO first 2 weeks of the new assignment; maximum 8 days RTO for the 13-week contract
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination policy: medical exemption requests allowed for the 2025-2026 season; exemption form must be included in submission
