Description
Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in a healthcare facility that requires floating across multiple units including PCU, Telemetry, Medical, Surgical, Observation, and Overflow. The RN will provide high-acuity patient care, monitor cardiac rhythms, and interpret ECG strips, with a focus on neuro assessments and cardiac drips. The role involves working varying units as needed, adhering to hospital protocols, and supporting patient recovery and safety.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Shifts begin at 7:00 PM and end at 7:00 AM.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), and NIHSS certification. 1-2 years of experience as long as proficient with neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips. Experience with Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin drips, and EPIC electronic medical record system. Prior travel nursing experience. Ability to read and interpret ECG strips and pass ECG competency exam.
- Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with telemetry and monitor reading, experience with off-site monitoring, and ability to adjust oxygen delivery devices such as CPAP and high-flow devices.
- Float: Float rotation will be required, potentially to ICU or ER for low acuity patients, based on hospital needs.
- Additional Information: The RN will be responsible for caring for patients with diagnoses including stroke, chest pain, arrhythmias, altered mental status, dehydration, CHF, GI hemorrhage, sepsis, and respiratory failure. The unit staff ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on the unit. The role involves working in a dynamic environment with flexibility to meet hospital needs. Travel nurses should be adaptable to work on different units and potentially during holidays and weekends, with a minimum of 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period.
