Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) Nights within a healthcare facility. This role involves floating to all PCU/Tele units, providing patient care for a diverse patient population including stroke patients, chest pain cases, arrhythmias, and post-surgical patients. The RN will be responsible for managing patient assessments, basic cardiac drips, and interpreting electronic monitor strips.
Job Details
- Position Description: Will be required to float to all PCU (Progressive Care Unit) and Telemetry units within the healthcare facility. Floating to other units will be within or below scope of practice.
- Number of Beds: 36 Medical, 11 Overflow, 15 Observation, 42 Surgical
- Certifications & Experience: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required. 1-2 years of experience with proficiency in neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Amio, and Heparin is necessary. Prior travel experience and EPIC electronic health record system familiarity are required. Ability to read/interpet strips and pass ECG exam.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Duties: Floating between PCU, Observation, Overflow, Medical, and Surgical floors, with occasional rare float to ICU or Emergency Room to assists with lower acuity or boarders. Managing a patient ratio typically around 1:4 to 1:6 depending on the unit. Responding to clinical needs with familiarity with RT equipment such as CPAP and high flow oxygen. Reading and interpreting telemetry strips for ECG changes. Conducting neuro assessments and managing cardiac drips.
- Additional Information: Orientation includes three shifts across three different units plus general facility orientation. Flexibility required to work where needed, including weekends and holidays as part of the team. Scrubs are navy colored. No cancellation policy beyond standard hospital allowances.
