Description
Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurses are needed at the healthcare facility for a temporary assignment starting in October 2026. This role involves floating across various units within the facility, providing specialized care for patients with conditions such as stroke, chest pain, arrhythmias, post-surgical recovery, sepsis, and respiratory failure. The position requires flexibility to work different floors, including medical, surgical, overflow, observation, and potentially ICU or emergency department units.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications are required. Candidates must have 1-2 years of recent experience and be proficient with neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips, including cardizem, amio, and heparin. Prior travel experience is necessary, along with EPIC electronic health record system proficiency. Ability to read and interpret strips and pass an ECG exam is essential.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with telemonitoring, EKG interpretation skills, familiarity with off-site monitor techs, and the ability to perform EKGs and communicate changes to physicians.
- Float: Float to various units including PCU, observation, overflow, medical, surgical, and occasionally ICU or ER, as needed.
- Responsibilities: Titrate drips, monitor patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms, respond to emergent situations, and provide comprehensive patient care across multiple specialties.
- Additional Information: Orientation includes three shifts on three different units plus general facility orientation. Flexibility to work where needed and participate in weekend and holiday coverage as required. Scrubs are navy in color. No guaranteed hours policy is in effect, with the facility permitted to cancel a limited number of shifts without penalty.
