Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) Nurse in a hospital setting. This role involves providing specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgeries in a dynamic surgical environment. The nurse is responsible for ensuring high standards of patient safety, effective team collaboration, and adherence to all clinical protocols throughout the surgical process.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts with 10-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday). Call shifts from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., averaging 2 to 3 shifts per week, including every other weekend (24 hours on Saturday and Sunday). Minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current New York State Registered Nurse License, BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross), six (6) months to three (3) years of Nursing (RN) experience, strong collaboration, communication skills (verbal and written), judgment/critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning (organizing and time management), problem solving, commitment to quality, reliability, safety and risk management.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting, Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, CCRN, and relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC as required by the assigned unit.
• Additional Information: The position requires experience in cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) nursing, with a focus on cardiac surgery. The RN must be proficient with EPIC electronic medical records system and able to support a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity surgical setting. The role may include duties related to charge nurse or shift coordinator responsibilities when assigned and active participation in the clinical ladder program.
