Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Rehabilitation Floor nurse in Salem, Virginia. This position involves providing inpatient rehabilitative care to patients requiring specialized medical-surgical interventions. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and functional independence.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: VA State Nursing License; BLS certification; experience in Medical Surgical (Med/Surg) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) required; minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
• Preferred Qualifications: Rehabilitation experience highly preferred
• Additional Information: The unit has 35 beds with patient ratios of 5-7:1. Staff may be floated to other Medical Surgical departments as needed. Responsibilities include administering medications, IV therapy including PICC lines and PEG tubes, bladder scans, trach care, tube feedings, Foley catheter management, bladder irrigation, and blood administration. The position involves working with essential equipment such as vitals machines, Baxter intravenous pumps, sequential compression devices, and bladder scanners. The documentation system used is Meditech. Candidates will work with a supportive multidisciplinary team including nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiatrists, physician assistants, and neuropsychologists, to improve patient functional outcomes.
