Description
Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse in a healthcare facility located in a high-acuity inpatient setting. This role involves providing specialized care to patients transitioning from intensive care, managing various medical conditions, and maintaining patient stability. The position requires adaptability to different patient needs and operational protocols within the unit.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Travel RN will work three 12-hour shifts with rotating nights, weekends, and holidays. The role involves being scheduled into a holiday and weekend rotation.
- Required Qualifications: Valid licensure to practice nursing, ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), and a minimum of 2 years of cardiac, step-down, or similar acute care experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC, and familiarity with medical equipment such as telemetry monitors, chest tubes, and central lines.
- Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The unit is an inpatient acute floor with 32 private beds. Orientation will include one day with the education team and one day of floor-specific training. The team uses EPIC for charting and Pyxis for medication dispensing. The patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 3-4 patients per nurse. Dress code is scrubs of any color.
