Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Open Heart specialty position located at a healthcare facility. This role involves caring for high-acuity pediatric patients with congenital heart differences and recent surgeries. The position requires a team-oriented professional with experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care, including familiarity with advanced medical devices and post-operative management.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts with shift times from 06:45 to 18:45 and 18:45 to 06:45, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure and certifications including BLS, PALS, and NIHSS. Minimum of 2 years Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience in a similar facility. Willingness to accept first-time travelers.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with fresh open-heart post-operative patients, transplantation, and devices such as Aquadex (renal replacement therapy), Impella, ECMO. EPIC electronic medical record experience preferred.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to Pediatric Intensive Care Units, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, and General Pediatric units as needed.
• Additional Information:
  • Patients are ages 0-18 with very high acuity and complex diagnoses including congenital heart surgeries, ECMO, Impella, Dialysis, and other renal support devices.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity, typically ranging from 1:1 to 2:1.
  • Support staff includes a health care technician, unit secretary, resource nurse, RT, cardiologist, intensivist, and telemetry monitoring technician available 24/7.
  • Technology includes EPIC EMR, Alaris infusion pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors.
