Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse (Med/Surg RN) in a critical access facility located in West Union, IA. This 13-week assignment offers an excellent opportunity to work in a rural hospital setting with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals. The role involves providing comprehensive care for adult patients, including surgical, observation, and skilled care, with a focus on independence, teamwork, and resilience.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (5 p.m. 5 a.m.), minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: IA Registered Nurse (RN) license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a specialty area, with previous experience working in a Critical Access Hospital required. EPIC charting experience preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in charge nurse capacity, previous charge experience strongly preferred. Social candidates with resilience and adaptability are encouraged to apply.
• Additional Information:
  • The facility is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital with a Med/Surg unit of 20 beds, OB with 4 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP), and 1 postpartum/c-section preparation bed.
  • Average daily census for Med/Surg is 810 patients, primarily skilled care level, acute, and observation.
  • Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:3-4, up to 1:5.
  • Acceptable scrub colors are staff's choice for Med/Surg.
  • Candidate must start medical portion of compliance within 48 hours of acceptance.
  • Flex schedule includes rotating days and nights, with 12 weeks night shifts followed by days, depending on unit need.
  • No guaranteed orientation week.
