This role involves managing general assessments, IV starts, portacath access, and medication administration for a unit specializing in oncology treatments and patient care.

Job Details

• Position Description:
  Unit notes include a local radius restriction of 50 miles; candidates outside this radius are eligible. The assignment includes a 24-hour call-off or cancellation policy every 13 weeks. There are 12 hours of non-billable orientation during the first work week; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
  Department: Medical Surgical Oncology with 32 beds.
  RN-to-patient ratios: 4-5:1 on days, 4-6:1 on nights.
  Required certifications: BLS required, ONS preferred, CHPN preferred, OCN preferred.
  General patient care includes assessments, IV starts, portacath access, medication administration, with specific skills required for handling chest tubes, central lines, and heparin drips.
  No titration required for drips or reading strips independently.
  The charge nurse seldom takes patients but is available for supervision.
  Nurse assistants (CNAs) are on the unit, with an 8:1 ratio.
  Equipment used includes CPAP and High Flow oxygen systems.
  Shifts & scheduling: 12-hour days, every other week, with weekend and holiday requirements.
  Standby call for low census and floating to other units such as Heart Center, General Medicine, Post-Surgical, or Ortho-Neuro.
  Scrubs are provided; no tattoos above shoulders, nose piercing only facial piercings, natural hair color required.
  Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts.
  Charting system: EPIC.
  BSN not required but license submission is accepted, and waiting is possible.
  Trauma level: 2.
  Shift hours: 12.
  Minimum weekly hours: 36.
  Start date: 10/12/2026.
  End date: 01/11/2027.

• Required Qualifications:
  Valid BLS certification; minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical Oncology; Oregon or eligible for temporary license; experience with assessments, IV starts, port access, medication administration, chest tubes, central lines, and heparin drips.
