Job Summary
L&D Post Partum Floor Nurse Overland Park, KS. This position involves providing specialized care for women of childbearing age and newborns in a 26-bed post-partum unit. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patient needs, managing risks such as sepsis and venous thromboembolism, and supporting discharge education within a busy hospital environment.

Job Details

• Position Description: Registered Nurse for a Post Partum unit caring for women of childbearing age and newborns, with experience in postpartum, LDRP, well-baby nursery, recoveries, and attending births.
• Certifications: BLS, NRP.
• Education Requirements: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Location Requirements: Overland Park, KS.
• Years of Experience: 0 years minimum.
• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information: The unit utilizes vitals machines, glucometers, computers, and post-partum supplies. Documentation is performed via CPN and Meditech systems. Staffing primarily includes RNs, with rare use of PCTs during short staffing. The unit may require floating within womens services unless cross-trained to pediatrics and/or NICU.
• Preferred Qualifications: Ability to recognize workflow, assess risks such as sepsis and VTE/DVT, and provide effective discharge education. Experience with AIDET and BSSR is valued.
