Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in a healthcare facility setting. The role involves providing specialized care for women during labor, delivery, and postpartum, including high-risk pregnancies, antepartum, and substance abuse cases. The position requires circulating for cesarean sections and working designated night shifts.

Job Details

• Position Description:
  The L&D Nurse will be responsible for delivering patient care in a unit with 14 beds for labor and postpartum, including 6 triage beds and 2 operating room suites. The unit handles approximately 250 births per month. Certifications required include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Fetal Monitoring, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). The unit follows American Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) guidelines for labor ratios, which are 2 to 1 for laboring patients and 1 to 4 for couplet care.
• Required Qualifications:
  Certifications in ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in labor and delivery; valid license to submit; location: the healthcare provider setting; no specific degree requirement, but relevant licensure is necessary.
• Schedule:
  12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; shift times are from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on a rotating basis, including every other weekend.
• Responsibilities:
  Circulating for cesarean sections, working with high-risk obstetric cases such as pre-eclampsia, insulin-dependent diabetics, and substance abuse patients. Float-to-postpartum coverage may be required, but postpartum staff will not float to labor and delivery. The orientation involves three shifts.
