This role involves providing specialized cardiac and pulmonary patient care on a 30-bed medical unit and an 8-bed intermediate/progressive care unit, with opportunities to develop critical care skills in mechanical ventilation, cardiac monitoring, and pulmonary medicine.

Job Details

• Position Description: Responsible for patient care in a 30-bed medical cardiopulmonary unit and an 8-bed intermediate/progressive care unit, focusing on safe patient outcomes for individuals with diagnoses such as pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, and pulmonary embolism. Responsibilities include oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, moderate sedation monitoring during bronchoscopies, chest tubes, tracheostomies, postoperative care, non-invasive ventilation, mechanical ventilation, and cardiac monitoring. Equipment utilized includes Epic Charting System, Alaris pumps for intravenous fluids, and Omnicell medication dispensing system.
• Required qualifications: Nursing license valid for the state, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); 2 years of relevant experience in telemetry or critical care; experience working with mechanical ventilation, cardiac drips, ABG interpretation, and pulmonary procedures.
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, every other weekend, and every other holiday.
• Additional Information: Orientation includes validation of telemetry and mechanical ventilation competencies, online modules, and in-unit shifts with preceptor. The unit emphasizes patient safety, quality care, and development of critical thinking and time management skills through orientation and continuous education. Floating to other medical-surgical units may be required, especially for IMC skilled nurses.
