Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse in the Labor and Delivery Department at a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized care for laboring and preterm pregnant patients, with responsibilities including circulating and recovering cesarean section patients, and ensuring the safety and comfort of both mother and baby during the birthing process. The position requires experience with C-sections and computer charting, preferably using Cerner.

Schedule: Nights shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with 12-hour shifts and a minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: BLS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications; minimum four years of experience in labor and delivery nursing; ability to confidently circulate and recover cesarean section patients; experience with C-sections and computer charting (preferably Cerner).
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP
Additional Responsibilities: Passing a dysrhythmia exam (with a maximum of two attempts and an 80% passing score) and completing a pass/fail simulation lab on day one of orientation.
Unit Details: The unit has 18 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum beds, 14 OB triage beds, 8 antepartum beds, and 2 fully equipped operating rooms for cesarean sections.
Patient Volume: Approximately 8-10 deliveries daily, totaling 3863 annual births.
Staffing and Ratios: Staffing aims to meet AWHONN standards with nurse-to-patient ratios mostly at 2:1 depending on acuity, and 4:1 in antepartum.
Support Services: In-house OB hospitalist, 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy, and in-house anesthesia.
Other Notes: The facility is a Level II EQ and Level 1 Trauma Center, accepting gestations of 28 weeks and greater. The role includes first-time float to other units when needed, with no scrub requirements for the candidate.
