Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in Austin, TX This role involves providing direct patient care within a Level 1 trauma teaching emergency department. The ER Nurse will implement and monitor patient care plans, communicate patient conditions, and serve as a primary coordinator for multi-disciplinary treatment to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
Job Details
- Position Description: Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Responsibilities: Implements and monitors patient care plans, assesses and coordinates discharge planning needs, and notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing, obtained prior to the hire date; Advanced Life Support (AHA or ARC) obtained within 6 months of hire; BLS Provider (AHA or ARC) obtained within 1 month of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA or ARC) obtained within 6 months of hire; Instructor of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA or ARC) or Instructor of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support obtained prior to hire; Certified Instructor of Basic Life Support (AHA or ARC) obtained within 1 month of hire; and at least 0 years of experience in emergency nursing.
- Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: This role involves working in a level 1 trauma teaching facility with a busy emergency department volume of 55,000-60,000 patients per year. The staff utilizes Cerner for electronic health records and includes a mix of nursing, clerical, transporter, and patient care technician roles.
