Step Down Unit Nurse in a healthcare facility located in the area. • Position Description:
  RN's must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a 90% passing requirement. The exam is open book and covers skills learned; all necessary resources will be provided. Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas. Drivers license required at submission to verify distance from the facility, with a radius rule of 50 miles.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Education and Experience: No specific degree requirement listed; minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Shift: Nights; 12 hours per shift; minimum 36 hours per week.
• Schedule: Shifts run from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM on a cyclic schedule, with every other weekend requirement.
• Additional Responsibilities:
  • RNs are required to titrate certain drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin.
  • Charge nurses take full patient assignments.
  • RNs interpret telemonitor strips and troubleshoot equipment like ventilators and CPAP devices.
  • Float to ICU may be required if the candidate has appropriate experience.
• Orientation: Sixteen hours of department-specific training.
• Notes:
  • The unit is fast-paced with frequent admits and discharges.
  • RTO requests must be made upfront; additional approvals will not be granted.
  • Cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
  • Must be licensed to submit and have a drivers license to verify distance.
