Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse, with a specialty in Step Down care, located at the healthcare provider's facility. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to adult patients with various diagnoses, including cardiac, respiratory, renal, and post-procedure recovery, within a fast-paced acute care setting. The position is scheduled for night shifts, with a focus on team collaboration and patient-centered service.

- Position Description:
Provides nursing care in a 40-bed step down unit caring for adults with conditions such as cardiac, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure. Responsible for managing titratable drips like Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin. The role involves interpreting telemetry strips, troubleshooting high-flow oxygen devices, and working with various RT equipment including vents, Cpap, and BiPap. The unit operates with patient ratios of 1:4-5 during day and night shifts, with nurses expected to be flexible and adaptable, and to take feedback constructively. - Required Qualifications:
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Valid license to submit and possess at least 2 years of nursing experience in a step down or similar acute care setting. - Schedule:
Night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week scheduled across shifts. - Additional Information:
Orientation includes a 1-day unit-specific training. Nurses must be competent in arteriolar catheter management, reading telemetry strips, and troubleshooting high-flow oxygen devices. Floating to medical-surgical or ICU units may be required to care for acuity patients. The role serves a diverse patient population with primary cultural backgrounds including Hispanic and Somali communities. Shift flexibility, excellent communication, teamwork, and responsiveness are key to success in this position.
