Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nursing - Location: [Generic Location]
This ER nursing position involves providing high-quality care in a fast-paced trauma and emergency environment. The role requires adherence to specialized protocols, including passing a skills exam during orientation, managing a variety of acute patient conditions, and working within a team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details

  • Required Qualifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification, NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification. Must have a minimum of 2 years of ER experience, possess a valid drivers license, and be able to pass a pass/fail skills exam with a score of 90% or higher during orientation.
  • Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information:
    • ER handles approximately 70-85 patients daily, including adults and pediatrics, with patient ratios of 1 RN to 4 patients.
    • Certification requirements include BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, and PALS, with ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) being bonuses.
    • Routine patient diagnoses include abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, chest pain, sepsis, cerebrovascular accident (CVA) rule out, injuries, and trauma.
    • Emergency Department staff includes nurses, physicians, mid-level providers, and techs, utilizing Epic electronic medical records and advanced respiratory equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high-flow devices.
    • No floating to inpatient units; floating to pediatric ED is required only when applicable.
    • The unit requires unit-specific orientation of 1-2 days prior to independent functioning.
    • Phone, email, or on-site communication will be used for additional notes and orientation.
