Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L & D) Nurse in a high-risk facility. This position involves delivering comprehensive care to high-risk obstetric patients, including tasks such as admitting, preparing, and recovering mothers and newborns, as well as titrating drips such as insulin and oxytocin. The role requires flexibility to float to antepartum and neonatal intensive care units as needed, with shifts scheduled in rotating day and evening hours.

Job Details

• Position: Labor and Delivery (L & D) Nurse
• Certifications Required: BLS (American Heart Association), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Education and Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in L & D nursing, current licensure required
• Shift: Rotating shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; schedule includes every 3rd weekend, rotating holidays, and occasional 1100-2330 shifts
• Additional Information:
  • Unit handles 950-1000 births annually, with 7 beds for L & D, 2 OR suites for cesarean sections, and postpartum beds for 17 mothers
  • Follows AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios
  • Manages patients with high-risk diagnoses including preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, preterm labor, and PROM
  • RNs are required to titrate drips like insulin and oxytocin and work closely with OB providers and neonatologists, who are available 24/7
  • The unit provides hospital scrubs in purple, and orientation includes 3 days of hospital and unit-specific training
  • Floating to NICU and hospital-wide patient sitter duties may be required if trained and comfortable
  • No call or standby requirements
