Job Summary
Registered Nurse Emergency Room. This position supports a fast-paced Emergency Department serving patients across all age groups, from infants to geriatric patients, with a wide range of complex diagnoses. The role requires rotating night and evening shifts, every other weekend coverage, and holiday coverage as scheduled.
Job Details
- Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts accepted; rotating night and evening shifts from 7:00 PM7:30 AM or 3:00 PM3:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Primary scheduling needs are currently on night shift.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience; previous charge experience; active Maryland or compact Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications; experience caring for up to four patients; community hospital experience; required electronic health record charting experience; and proficiency in Emergency Department (ED) nursing skills, including triage, emergency medication administration, airway and ventilator management, intravenous therapy, blood product administration, procedural sedation monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management, care of patients with acute behavioral health conditions, and management of complex and multisystem diagnoses.
- Preferred Qualifications: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications.
- Additional Information: First-time travelers are accepted. Patient assignments are typically 1:4 and may increase to 1:5 for lower-acuity patients. The department treats patients of all ages and manages varied diagnoses involving all body systems, including high-acuity and complex conditions. Every other weekend and holidays are required as scheduled. No pre-scheduled on-call shifts are required. A 24-hour orientation is provided. Flu vaccination is required without exemptions.
