Description

Job Summary
Medical Surgical Nurse, located in an acute care facility, is responsible for providing high-quality patient care on a 38-bed unit. This role involves managing various diagnoses including pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, and respiratory viruses, as well as caring for surgical patients such as orthopedics and general surgery cases. The position requires the ability to adapt to the fast-paced environment with a focus on teamwork and patient safety.

Job Details

  • Position Description: Urgent need with ASAP start. The unit has 38 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 days and nights; must be able to take 6 patients. Must have experience with EPIC documentation and be comfortable with first-time travelers.
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Nursing, current nursing license, at least 1 year of Medical Surgical (MS) experience, BLS (American Heart Association or ARC), CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification, experience with bedside shift report, and experience with EPIC documentation.
  • Schedule: Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Must be able to titrate drips such as Heparin, Bumex, and Lasix. The unit supports telemetry with cardiac tech available 24/7; RNs are not required to read strips but must call cardiac tech if telemetry is ordered. Floating to IMCU may be required. Scrubs are navy blue, with a 1.5-shift unit-specific orientation. Weekend and holiday shifts are as needed, with standby and call requirements.
  • Submission Requirements: Current license to submit, and ability to complete a background and drug screen.
