Description

Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Specialist in a healthcare facility. This position involves providing specialized care for obstetric patients, including labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. The role requires a knowledgeable and adaptable healthcare professional to support high-risk and normal obstetric cases in a dynamic environment.

Job Details

  • Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP.
  • Education Requirements: 2 years of experience in L&D, postpartum, or related obstetric care; Compact license in hand; 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Location Requirements: Must have a valid state license (compact license preferred).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in obstetric nursing or related fields.
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities include administration of blood and blood products, anticoagulation therapy, assist with high-risk delivery, circulate for cesarean section, manage high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients, start and maintain IVs, use of sterile vaginal exams, triage obstetric patients, and utilization of specialized equipment such as epidural pumps and PCA pumps.
  • Additional responsibilities: Responding to patient diagnoses, using clinical equipment like intrauterine pressure catheters and electronic fetal monitoring, assisting in labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, including specialized procedures.
  • Certification requirements: Candidates must possess current certifications listed and meet clinical experience requisites.
  • Clinical setting may involve working with infants and adults, with a patient count averaging 200-300 community hospital births per month.
  • The candidate may be required to float between facilities as needed.
