Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Nurse - Location: unspecified. This role involves providing specialized perioperative care for cardiovascular procedures within a busy acute care setting. The position requires experience in cardiac surgeries and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Position Description:
Unit Notes include coverage of 7 operating rooms, 1 cystoscopy room, and 2 cesarean section rooms, with combined case volume averaging 15-24 cases per day. The OR handles heavy orthopedic, gynecological, urology, spine, ENT, gastrointestinal, and general surgeries, excluding robotics. Vascular cases such as femoral-popliteal, femoral-cutdowns, hybrid procedures, stent placements, fistulas, and CABG are performed. No neuro cases are included. The unit covers adult and pediatric patients, with occasional pediatric cases like tubes, tonsils, and rare appendectomies.
The RN must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute setting related to the operating room and must be able to scrub in on cases, particularly at least 3 years' experience in cardiac surgery procedures. Previous travel experience and the ability to adapt quickly are preferred. -
Schedule:
Shift times are from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The manager creates the schedule. -
Weeknight/Call Requirements:
General operating room call is 5-6 shifts per month, including one weekend. CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) call is 10-11 shifts per month, including every other weekend. Weekend shift coverage includes one weekend per month for general OR, and every other weekend for CVOR. Holiday calls are assigned depending on contract specifics, with holiday coverage typically required. -

Dress Code: Provided scrubs.

Orientation: Half-day with HR, followed by unit-specific training with a technician, typically lasting 3-4 days.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous travel experience, ability to jump into assignments quickly, and experience with cardiovascular surgery are highly valued.
