Job Summary
ICU Float Nurse Intensive Care Unit Float Location unspecified. This position involves providing specialized patient care within a Level I trauma center and teaching hospital environment. The role requires adaptability to float across various ICU units while maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.

Job Details

  • Position Description: ICU Float Nurse responsible for delivering advanced critical care across multiple ICU units, including neuro, cardiothoracic, and trauma services. The role involves functioning independently in high-acuity environments, with responsibilities that include managing ventilators, critical drips, telemetry readings, and sterile procedures. Ability to pass an advanced dysrhythmia exam within two attempts, with a passing score of 80%, is required prior to contracting.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications; minimum of 2 years ICU experience; licensed to practice, willing to wait for license submission; open to shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM or 7 PM to 7:30 PM, with at least 36 hours per week scheduled; must have at least 2 years of ICU experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Level I trauma centers, neuro ICU, or cardiothoracic ICU, and familiarity with electronic fetal monitoring, wound care, lifts, and restraints.
  • Additional Job Details: Must complete SIMs lab testing for sterile procedures; float across ICU and Med-Surg/Tele units at various campuses; participate in orientation; adhere to cancellation policies; use Cerner charting system; and be available for scheduled weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Submission Requirements: Candidates must be able to change department codes with each shift and be on-site by 7 AM or 7 PM for shift huddles.
