Medical Surgical Floor Nurse Night Shift Location: [Confidential]
This healthcare organization seeks a highly skilled Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse for night shifts. The position involves caring for a diverse patient population, including adult and pediatric medical-surgical telemetry patients, with a focus on fast-paced, short-stay cases. The successful candidate will have experience with a variety of diagnoses, clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Job Details

• Certification and Education Requirements: ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS Certification, PALS (preferred); minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty; RN licensure required.
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, working 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Orientation lasts 2-3 days, including a scavenger hunt; experience with telemonitoring on Cerner electronic charting system is preferred; unit utilizes ship color navy blue scrubs; rapidly changing patient flow with an average length of stay of 3 days; hospitalist available 24/7; may require float to telemetry or obstetrics units if experienced.
• Responsibilities include managing patients with conditions such as COPD, post-op care, GI bleeds, OBGYN surgeries, ortho, sepsis, altered mental status, stroke, cellulitis, and alcohol withdrawal. RNs may need to titrate drips including Heparin and Protonix, read their own strips, and work with high-flow, BiPAP, and CPAP equipment.
• Team leadership duties include acting as charge nurse without primary patient assignment; nurse aides are present on the unit with shift durations of 8 or 10 hours.
• Submission of certifications and licensure is required to be considered for this role.
