Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse Shift Manager position available in the specialty department at an acute care facility. This role involves overseeing patient care in high-risk obstetric settings, including L&D, postpartum, recovery, and women's health, with responsibilities centered on safe, evidence-based clinical practice for approximately 250 births per month.
Job Details
- Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: BLS, ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience; RN license; ability to submit license; location requirement: not specified; experience requirement: 2 years.
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities include managing a unit with 18 LDRP rooms, 6 triage spaces, 8 overflow beds shared with medical-surgical patients, and 2 operating rooms. Following California state guidelines for patient ratios, nurses will provide care for antepartum, delivery, postpartum, recovery, and women's health patients including high-risk obstetric cases.
- The position requires strong Charge Nurse experience, with current certifications including ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, and NRP.
- The candidate must be adaptable to floating across roles within the department, including Labor and Delivery, postpartum, C-section, and womens health, with training including online modules and in-unit orientation.
- Additional responsibilities involve participation in hospital safety initiatives, medication protocols, and maternal mental health screenings, with experience in Cerner charting preferred.
- Call requirement: standby as needed with a response time of approximately 30 minutes when called in.
- Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts canceled per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments, with full shift hours potentially paid in lieu of cancellation.
