Job Summary
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) - Nights shift in a healthcare facility. This position involves providing specialized care to critically ill pediatric patients, with a focus on managing respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, and other complex conditions. The role requires experienced pediatric intensive care professionals capable of functioning independently within a dynamic environment.
Job Details
- Certifications, Education, and Experience: BLS Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); a minimum of 3 years of pediatric ICU experience.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The unit has 8 beds with an average census of 2, working with pediatric patients requiring ventilators, electrolyte management, and titratable drips including insulin and sedatives. The team uses Cerner electronic medical records and Spacelab tele monitors. Occasionally, floating to general pediatrics and burn units, as well as NICU, may be required. The unit has 24/7 in-house hospitalist intensivists and respiratory therapy coverage. The role involves reading own strips on tele monitors, with rare charge nurse presence, and ensuring coverage on assigned nights.
