Job Summary
Operating Room Pediatrics (OR PEDS) Assistant in a regional healthcare provider. This role involves supporting nursing staff with patient care activities, equipment maintenance, and transportation within the perioperative region. It requires a proactive approach to quality improvement and effective communication with staff, patients, and families.
Job Details
- Certifications: N/A, Education: High School Diploma or GED, Location requirement: Not specified, Experience: 1 year,
- Schedule: Rotating shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- Ability to be flexible in assignment and able to work different shifts if required.
- Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families, and staff, including high volume and stressful situations.
- Ability to learn and evaluate new equipment and procedures quickly.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to problem-solve effectively using appropriate resources.
- Is productive in workflow, skills, and organization.
- Ability to provide appropriate care based on the needs of the individual taking into consideration age, culture, and developmental issues.
- Ability to provide care as needed and as described in the departments policies and procedures.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
- Knowledge of location, operation, and maintenance of common equipment and supplies located in the operating room region.
- Knowledge of protocols for patient records.
- Knowledge of role in emergency response.
- May perform patient care functions according to hospital and region policies and procedures, including shave preps, non-invasive monitoring, specimen collection, ambulating, and repositioning patients.
- Assists in cleaning and maintaining patient care equipment, transports/receives patients, equipment, supplies, blood products, and specimens within the region and hospital.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and attends staff meetings.
- Supports administrative decisions and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Participates in onsite training and cross-training to support anesthesia technician role functions as needed.
