Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Certified First Surgical Assistant in Portland, OR. This role focuses on supporting surgeons during surgical procedures by providing exposure, hemostasis, tying or sewing, and other assistance as directed by the primary surgeon. The position involves working closely with the operating room team to ensure patients receive quality care.
Job Details
- Position Description: Provides assistance to the primary surgeon during surgical procedures, including exposure, hemostasis, tying or sewing, and other functions as required. Responsible for accurately and responsively performing routine clinical tasks of limited complexity and supporting pre-and postoperative activities to facilitate optimal patient care.
- Required Qualifications: High School Education/GED or equivalent; Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor.
- Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week, with four consecutive days scheduled, starting at 6:45 AM.
- Additional Information: Prepares and positions patients for surgery, assists in visualization, provides hemostasis, harvests surgical grafts, performs incision closure, and applies wound dressings. Verifies availability of surgical equipment and supplies according to surgeons preference. Ensures optimal operating room environment, reviews diagnostic studies, and verifies operative consent and documentation.
