Description

Job Summary
ICU Float Intensive Care Unit Specialty in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing critical care to patients in a multi-operational service unit that accommodates various levels of care, including ICU and MedSurg patients. The position requires flexibility to float between units and interpret EKGs, with an emphasis on teamwork and independence.

Job Details

  • Position Description: The ICU float nurse will work on the ICU/MOSU with a patient ratio of 1 to 2 for ICU patients and 1 to 3 for MedSurg patients. The role involves caring for patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, CHF, neuro seizures, NSTEMI, and pulmonary conditions, along with performing procedures like intubations, thoracentesis, and femoral art line insertions. The unit operates with Cerner electronic medical records and requires strong vasoactive drip proficiency, independent work habits, and the ability to work with a pass/fail SIMs lab.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid certifications including ACLS and BLS, required licenses, either a diploma or higher education in nursing, at least 2 years of ICU experience, and a minimum of 36 hours per week schedule on 12-hour shifts (days or nights).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in critical care, proficient in interpreting EKGs, and ability to float confidently between ICU and MedSurg.
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with a total of 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks, holidays as per unit coverage.
  • Additional Information: Candidates must have a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and be comfortable with vasoactive drips and independent patient management. Fluency in sterile procedures such as Foley catheters and central line dressings is essential, along with passing SIMs lab assessments.
