Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse located in the healthcare facility. This position involves providing specialized care for premature and ill infants, with responsibilities centered on supporting infants requiring respiratory support and nutrition management. The role requires flexibility to possibly float to pediatric units for specific patient needs, adhering to unit protocols and standards.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license or certification in nursing, minimum of 2 years inpatient NICU experience, BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications, proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records system, and experience with Plum IV Pumps and Fisher Paykel equipment.
  • Responsibilities include caring for infants born at 32 weeks and above, supporting respiratory needs (such as CPAP, HFNC, and short-term ventilation), accessing peripheral and central lines, administering NGT feedings, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including neonatologists, pharmacy, nutrition, and therapy services.
  • Additional Information: Support may be provided for hyperbilirubin readmits and conditions such as Failure to Thrive, with the potential for rare floating to other pediatric areas depending on competency and comfort level. The unit uses a Family Integrated Nursing Care model where mother and baby are cared for together in the same room, alongside a team trained in both NICU and pediatrics.
