Job Summary
Pediatric Float Nurse Location: Not specified. This position involves providing specialized pediatric nursing care in a women and children's unit, with exposure to NICU and pediatric patients. The role requires adaptability to float across different areas of the unit and deliver high-quality patient care for individuals aged 0-17 years.
Job Details
- Certifications, Education, and Experience: BLS and PALS certifications are required. Candidates must have two years of inpatient pediatric experience.
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The Women & Children's Unit includes 16 LDRP rooms, 6 NICU rooms, and 4 pediatric rooms. Care includes patients with respiratory support, general surgery, limited orthopedics, diabetics, general medical diagnoses, and outpatient infusions. Patients are assigned with a 3-4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio depending on acuity. Core staffing is 6 RNs and 2 LNAs per shift, with medical oversight provided by Pediatric Hospitalists. The unit utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record system and Plum IV pumps. Staff wear hospital-issued scrubs. Floating to NICU or other units may occur but is rare and depends on the clinicians competence and comfort level with specific assignments.
